The site has no relation with the urban setting and just serves as independent technical area not interacting with the city. Within the fenced Regulated Area,the new Wholesale Market building includes shops, loading bays and public spaces; a Refrigerated Logistical Platform and an Ecological Area as well as operational areas to manage the whole building. Pedestrian and vehicle paths, rest areas, parking zones and garages were identified after a detailed study of flows and logistics to optimize external and internal links and for the general management of the Market. Automatic platforms for temporary goods storing are located near access gates. The Regulated Area has been considerably reduced in order to enhance public and private spaces and functions. A deep urban study has been carried out to reconnect urban frameworks and green pedestrian areas while allowing traffic to flow more smoothly on the neighbouring streets.
